Independent Technical Assessments of Rail Corridors, South Africa, 2025-2026
Performed independent technical assessments of key freight corridors and provided specialist technical advisory. Included detailed performance assessment of track and evaluation of the impact on the current operation, on-site assessment of condition, development of optimised long-term renewal/ maintenance plans and on-track machine requirements, and development of strategies and priority actions required to improve performance for the required capacity.
Rail EPCM Project, South Africa, 2024
Conducted a rail concept study within an EPCM project for the development of a platinum mine, with the aim to assess in detail the viability of rail transport and establish the capital cost and operating cost per tonne of ore for various rail provisioning models. Included rail operations, rolling stock, rail infrastructure, rail facilities and material handling.
Concentrate Logistics Study, Australia, 2023-2024
Led a scoping/ concept study for the expansion of the logistics operation for a nickel mine with the aim to develop new rail and road logistics concepts for wet and dry concentrate and other products and commodities. Included rail and road operations, rolling stock, rail infrastructure, intermodal, material handling and storage.
Heavy Haul Track Renewals, Australia, 2021-2024
Managed the annual programs for the engineering, technical management and detailed design for the brownfields track renewals on a heavy haul railway network. Included ongoing advisory and consulting related to track maintenance, condition assessment, performance improvement, and prioritisation and optimisation of track renewals.
Rail Scoping Studies For Ammonia Transport, Australia & Africa, 2021-2024
Led numerous rail scoping/ concept and pre-feasibility studies as part of various energy or modal studies with the aim to assess in detail the potential for rail transport for export and national distribution of liquid ammonia, and establish capital costs and operating costs per tonne. Included rail operations, rolling stock, rail infrastructure, intermodal/ containerisation, material handling, storage, pipeline and shiploading.
Track Performance Assessment, Mozambique, 2016-2017
Performed numerous detailed assessments of track performance for a revitalised railway corridor, including condition assessment, benchmarking with other railway networks, and advisory for improvement to track condition, maintenance practices, mechanisation and condition assessment programs.
